What is the ranking algorithm?
We rank deals based on value to students. Free items rank highest and pay least. BOGO deals rank second. The exact formula is proprietary but the principle is simple — better deals for students = better placement for you.
How do I know it's working?
Every week you get a performance report for your placement — how many times your deal was seen, tapped, and claimed. Real numbers, in your business portal.
Is there a contract?
No contracts. Free placements (Deal of the Week, Student Deal Slot, Subscriber Exclusive) are week by week — submit, refresh, or stop anytime. For the Sponsored Restaurant Review, the commitment is the feature period we agree on.
What counts as an "in-kind contribution" for prize sponsorships?
For monthly grand prize sponsors, it's $100 or more — a large gift card, premium service, or notable product. For the sponsored prize slot, it's a recurring product or service from your business valued at $65 or more (a year of pizza Fridays, a semester of haircuts, etc.). No cash is exchanged — the contribution is the prize itself.
Will it always be free?
Standard deal placement will stay free — it's the foundation of how our ranking algorithm works. We may introduce paid options for premium placements (specific featured slots, sponsored sections) in the future, but the core "submit a deal, get ranked, get featured if it's competitive" model isn't going behind a paywall. We'll notify partners well in advance of any changes.
